I got Vibram "FiveFingers" shoes yesterday. We stopped by Roadrunner Sports on the way up to San Clemente. There was some kind of sale going on, so it was madness there. Luckily, the guy helping us was super helpful and patient.

They're really unusual and they're supposed to train the body to support itself... or something. According to the site:

Our revolutionary design makes feet healthier by allowing them to move more naturally and freely.

The typical human foot is an anatomical marvel of evolution with 26 bones, 33 joints, 20 muscles and hundreds of sensory receptors, tendons and ligaments. Like the rest of the body, to keep our feet healthy, they need to be stimulated and exercised.

I also got them because I wanted to be cool like the other kids on the playground. :)

I've had Sperry Topsiders. And, I've had some Propét Villager Walkers. And, the one think I've found about "barefoot" shoes is that they lack any kind of padding or cushioning.

After the coolness wears off, you realize that without any padding, they're not really all that comfortable. IMHO, anyway.

We'll see. They're not my primary shoes, so if they don't work out, it's no big deal.
