March Challenge - Days 27 - 30
Mar. 31st, 2011 07:44 amOk, let's rubknock the rest of these out.
Day 27 - A picture of yourself and a family member
About five years ago, I visited Europe by myself to see my friends Matt and Michelle, who were both living in Austria at the time. From Austria, the three of us made a short trip to Amsterdam.
While we were there, I requested we visit my great aunt. Tante Agnes! (The lady on the right, next to the chubby guy in orange.)

Though she barely speaks English, she's super fun and spunky. She had us over for dinner one night. We learned a little Dutch, talked about things to do in Holland and may or may not have had a bit too much wine. Tee hee.
Day 28 - A picture of something you’re afraid of
When I was about 10 years old, my dad and some friends spontaneously went to the beach one afternoon. While bodyboarding, I got caught in a rip current and almost drowned. For the next 5 or so years, I was deathly afraid of waves. Specifically, I was convinced a giant tidal wave was going to come and drown us.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of that now, but I do have a healthy... awareness of the power of the ocean. The only real downside of that is it affects my surfing. I'll never be any good because I'm not willing to get out there in the big swells.
Day 29 - A picture that can always make you smile
Pictures of my cats always get me. I hate dealing with cat hair and kitty litter. And I wanted to get rid of all four of them when I realized they ruined my brand new couch, but I still love em.
Mark sent me this pic while I was in New Orleans. This is Elvis, sunning in the kitchen.

Day 30 - A picture of someone you miss
I'm going to cheat and mention two people. Two of my oldest and best friends, Matt and Michelle.

I met both of them around 1995, when I worked at Toys R Us. Matt was my friend from work, and he kept trying to get me to like his friend Michelle. We never got along until the night we realized that we both loved the Smashing Pumpkins. We've been music buds ever since.
I see both of them about once a year, but I miss just having them around and ready to hang out any given evening.
