- A song that no one would expect you to love -
I had to really think about this one. I kind of listen to everything, so people generally aren't shocked if I say I like Public Enemy, Garth Brooks, Harry Nilsson, Michael Jackson, et al. But, I thought of a real doozy.

The American National Anthem. Seriously. It's a beautiful poem. I never thought much of it until I ran my first 10k. Before the race began, a little girl sang it a cappella, and it made me a little misty-eyed.

I like my country, but I'm not weird about it. Believe me, I'm no "America, love or leave it" or "these colors don't run" (blech) type of guy. I just think we have a cool national anthem.

Note: The above link is kind of a joke, but I meant what I said about the song.

People generally don't write too many songs about weird, computery geeks, so I had a little trouble with this one. So, taking [livejournal.com profile] cpratt's cue, I'm bending the rules on this one.

Instead of a song about me, I chose a song by me. A while back, I used to write and record a lot of music. I wrote and recorded an entire album with a drummer friend, under the name pon. Later, I did several recordings with two other friends. We briefly became a really awful cover band. It was awesome; you had to be there.

I've slowed down quite a bit, starting around the time I finished college. But I still record here and there. Here's a song I did a while back, using a loop of my friend Brian's drumming and sound bites of the TV show, Wonder Woman.

Avoid That Bullet - Mike d'Arnaud

Enjoy!
