Why Apple, why?

Last night, we went out and saw Harry Potter 7.0. For the record, I found it very entertaining and well directed.
When we got home, the house was freezing cold, so I hopped in to bed with my iPad. I figured I would read for 15 minutes and fall asleep. Turned it on and saw this!
Here's the deal. I installed a beta of iOS 4.2 on it a few weeks ago which is now expired. There was a new beta after that that I should have installed over it, but I was too lazy busy. Apparently, that beta version is no longer available. When I plug it in to my Mac, as instructed, it says "Your version of iOS is expired. You must update." Then when I click Check for Updates, it says "You have the latest version."
Good thing I have nothing going on tonight...

My phone was jailbroken for a while. It was super fun. I should do that again!
