Yesterday, we stopped in Yellow Springs for a bit. What I was told about Yellow Springs is that "not much has changed since the sixties. Everyone has long hair and walks around smoking pot."

Translation: Berkeley, CA

Turns out a lot has changed. I'm pretty sure Subway "Eat Fresh" wasn't around in the summer of love.

We had lunch at Ha Ha Pizza. I was a little amused at their logo. I get it, you guys all smoke weed. But do you really need to ash on my pizza?

Turns out, the pizza was quite good. I got pepperoni and pesto. Mark got sausage and onions.

Outside of the pizza, Yellow Springs was kind of a bust. Of course, I'm a little bit biased. I've been known to hate hippies...

Fun fact: although I was enrolled at Antioch College from 1989-90, I've never been to Yellow Springs. But why do you hate the hippies?

Love,

Chris (Berkeley '92)

Oh, I don't really hate hippies. It's just something I say... a lot. Plus it's an excuse to work JP in to my post. :)

I'm definitely pro conservation and peace, but I'm not a big fan of tie-dye or the Grateful Dead. Or weed...

Somewhat unbelievably, I was completely straight at the one Dead show I went to in Oakland. What I took away from that show: Weed obviously helps, because they didn't sound that amazing straight.

I never liked the Dead. The Jefferson Airplane were MY 'San Francisco' band. I spent Six Weeks in San Francisco in July of 1996 and couldn't find a job; not one Temp agency offered to help. I blamed Karma, as 'the city' knew I hated Jerry Garcia. :)

awww, thanks for the hippie luvin'! [[ Bro-Hug ]] [[ wanders off in search of nachos ]]

hehe. Actually, I haven't smoked weed since college, I've never been into the Grateful Dead (nor Phish), and Tie-Dye was totally fun to do when I was at camp in the 6th grade.

I'm not really a good hippy, am i? I don't think I even own one single piece of clothing made from hemp!

"ME: I’m about to tell you something but you have to promise that you won’t freak out on me because I’m still the same person I was the day you met me." :)

One reason I wish I was a big deadhead is their uber-extensive live catalog.
Prince has a lot of bootlegs too (I have 100s of em), but Greatful Dead beat him hands down in terms of volume.

Yup. It's all out there. I'll listen to a 2+ hour Dead show on my iPod while riding the train at Disneyland the entire time. That's one of my favorite things to do.

Be thankful you don't like this band. It's a lot of work sometimes. I didn't choose them, they chose me.

I draw the line at the the whole 'not bathing' thing and I hate pot.
