Mr Garnaud Goes to Appleville

So, I went to the Apple store today.

Last Saturday, I noticed my Macbook wouldn't turn on. After a few tries, I realized that it wasn't just a battery thing. The logic board was definitely dead. This hyper-sucks because I'm off to Ireland in a few days and had every intention of bringing it.

I did a few minutes of research, and it sounded like fixing it would be like $800. Now, I've replaced Mac notebook logic boards before. It's not easy, and it doesn't always take. So I made an appointment with the Genius Bar, with the intention of them confirming my research and with me ultimately buying a new Mac instead of fixing this one. (Hey, new computer!)

So, arrive:

"It'll be $280 to fix and it'll take 2 to 5 days. You might get it back in time for your trip."
Sweet
"but we'll probably wipe your hard drive. Is that ok?"
Huh?
"You don't have it backed up?"
Yeah...No.

(Mike races home, tears up his house trying to find his old, 60gig drive, finally finds it, swaps it out and races back to the store.)

"Hi, do you have an appointment?"
No, but I was just here. Can I just kinda drop this off?
"You need an appointment. I'll make one for you now. What's your last name?"
d-a-r-n-a-u-d
"Ok, Mr Garnaud, someone will be with you in 25 minutes."
Do you have wifi? Oh shit, right, my computer doesn't work...

Long story short, an hour later, they admitted that it won't be fixed till after I leave for Ireland. I dropped it off anyway.
Whatever, you win some, you lose some.

Of course, now I'm thinking, "Well, I could still buy a new one..." Resist! Resist!!!

Thanks! I like it too, but it doesn't fit very well. Especially when I sit down. Gotta work on those sit-ups, I guess.

As far as the computer goes, I'm starting to view it as a good thing. I'll be travelling
