The Big Apple
Aug. 3rd, 2011 08:30 amIn November,
xxtapemakerxx Matt and I are going to New York. It'll be a fancy ladies bro-cation. The point of the trip for me will be to see the Broadway musical Spider-man: Turn off the Dark. I realize it's a silly ambition. A few people I know have seen it and hated it, but I bet I will love it. We're also planning on seeing The Book of Mormon, which according to my friend Mikey, is the funniest musical ever.
This is a big deal to me. When I was a kid, I was made aware of New York through movies like Annie and Muppets Take Manhattan. I've always been enchanted by it, and I always figured I'd go some day. But for multiple reasons, trips to the Big Apple have always been elusive to me. Then I just decided, "You know what? I'm going, even if I have to go alone." Luckily, I talked Matt in to joining me.
I feel very, very lucky in life that I can do these types of things. (squee!)
