March Challenge - Day 15

Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die

I would love to go to New York City. I've never been. My dream for the longest time has been to go to New York City for like a week and see Broadway shows every night. I'd gladly settle for a long weekend, as well.

It's funny; I've seen so much of Europe, but I've hardly seen America beyond the west coast. I suppose now that I'm single and in complete control of my vacations, this trip may become a reality soon...ish. The other two places in America I would love to see are Austin, TX and New Orleans, LA.

Fun Fact: I'm going to New Orleans in about a week!

I had a different reaction to NYC. When I first visited it, I was living in San Diego and about to move to SF. When I visited, it felt like just another city (I went in a January). I mean, new things to see, but there wasn't anything special about it compared to other cities like it.

Then I moved to NJ and I worked in NYC. The city changed completely with that new frame of reference. I got so much more out of it by just walking to work each day and absorbing atmosphere.

That said, I've never cared for Broadway (or anything on stage), so that might be another reason.

You really should go. It's like no other place on earth. Well, at least, no other place I've been to. It's not so much about all the things one can do there (although there's no end to that), but the experience of *being there*.

I used to go every year, but I haven't been in a few years. Fortunately, I'll be back there at the end of May. :)

I hadn't even seen this post when I sent you the pics from Times Square earlier.
