The Lone Star Saloon (Last full day in San Francisco)

This afternoon, during the Superbowl, we made a quick trip to the Lone Star Saloon. I have been told that the Lone Star has a lot of historical significance in the gay universe, so it was a definite must-see.



My San Francisco hosts, 50poundnote and franken_bear, along with my new buddy Kirk, took me. Apparently it was slower than usual, probably because of the game. Luckily there was no TV in the outside area, so we didn't have to watch!

We also had brunch this morning with rootbeer1 and qbear. Great guys!

Having spent the better part of my 30's on that very patio, I see a lot of Familiar in the background...
Scary part is, not all of it is the place. I swear there are faces back there that I saw there over 10 years ago! lol
And yeah a typically summer Sunday Bear Bust was INSANELY packed. I actually prefer it a little thinned out.

YAY! I enjoyed the Lonestar when I was there last year. Super glad ya got to meet Steve and Jack as well. They're such great people.

Hope you're around for IBR!

I don't know how much time Tibor/tibortiger & I will be able to spend at the bars due to the smoke/crowding situation, but we had a couple of nice visits there last year before -- as Tibor says it, "The smell of burning insulation & carpet scraps" ((pipe smoke mixed with several cigars mixed with pot)) drove us back to the host-hotel to hang out instead... :o)

I haven't met 50poundnote yet, but have known him online for years... rootbeer met us last year on our last day and gave us a whirlwind sightseeing tour and then a great lunch on the way to the airport... He's AWESOME!!! We didn't get a chance to meet his partner, though, cuz he was bein' all responsible and working and stuff... ;o)
