Amoeba!
I spent some time yesterday listening to my new Amoeba swag. Did I mention I went to Amoeba in Hollywood this past weekend? :) Turns out I got some great stuff.
Randy Newman Songbook vol 1
Say whatever you want about Randy Newman, but I was way in to him for a time. Ironically, I got in to him around the time this album came out. The publicity for it worked on me. I didn't buy this one at the time, because it's sort of a hits album. He rerecorded some of his biggest hits as just himself and a piano. It sounds great.
Tori Amos - Crucify EP
Just like everyone, I'm over Tori Amos, but this EP is so great. It has a cover of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, The Rolling Stones' Angie and Led Zeppelin's Thank You.
Plus, it was 50 cents!
Cornelius - Fantasma
I got this for a friend of mine. Cornelius is a Japanese electro-pop-weirdo-rock guy. I recommend checking out all his albums. This one is his debut.
Matt Morris - When Everything Breaks Open
This is the only one I haven't listened to yet. I met Matt Morris at a show at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. He put on a great show and was super nice.
Random Trivia: Apparently, he's Justin Timberlake's best friend.
INXS - Kick
I've never really cared about INXS, but I have been aware that they are a decent band. My radar really stated picking them up when Beck and his "Record Club" band did a cover of the entire Kick album.
Then, before we went to Amoeba, Jebby was showing me his Amoeba swag, featuring INXS - Kick. I knew I had to have it.
It's great. Super dated at times and super timeless at other times.
M.I.A. - maya
This is my favorite album of 2010. I already own the cd, but at Amoeba, they had a vinyl version with 4 extra songs. Yay!!! I've already ripped them to mp3s.
I love Amoeba so much... sigh...

I usually start off completely overwhelmed, then look for a few specific things, then go through the discount racks, then the vinyl. Once I stumble in to the DVD section, I know it's time to go. :)
