Music Meme - Day 28 (Big Boy Edition)
Day 28. A song that makes you feel guilty
I listen to all kinds of music, but I'll be the first to admit that I occasionally choose bands or singers based on their looks. And, like some of you, I'm in to burly dudes.
I've discovered some great music this way, though.
Al Hirt:
He's a trumpet player from the 60's. I have almost his entire catalog. Amazing stuff. Al is known for adding extra notes to all of his songs. He's sort of the Eddie van Halen of trumpet players.
Pattern is Movement:
Super unique progressive-ish rock. It's just 2 guys (In interviews, they have referred to themselves as straight "bears"). Andrew plays keyboards and sings, and Chris rocks the drum kit. Check out "All Together", their breakthrough album.
and finally, Fucked up:
I'll admit. I got in to this band purely out of "Oh hai!" for Damian, the singer. I lucked out, because they actually are an amazing band. But still, fawning over the singer? Guilty!
I saw Fucked Up at the Casbah about a year ago. It was the scariest show I've ever seen there. Maximum mosh pit action. Not my style at all. But at the end of the show, I told Damian how great they were, and he gave me a big hug. (swoon)

I got into Fucked Up because of Damien. HEY! I'm old, gay and shallow BUT, and I've said this many times before, Fucked Up would still be a great band if Damien looked like Geddy Lee.
