Sometimes I make movies...

I would screw a metal brace (maybe 1/2" by 10") on the remaining wood on each face of the beam you cut out. It looks, from your video, like it is a weight bearing beam....and, if so, it might simply crack

In any case...good job

Excellent advice. I will do that.
It doesn't seem like there is any weight on it at all, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
