Not only see, your highness… but hear. (new, little demo by Mike)

I'm working on some new electronic music and I'm really pleased with what I came up with today, in a very short period of time. It's still a work in progress, but I thought I'd put it out there.

My afternoon

That's kinda fun! I like the retro feel that the cowbell, portamento, and analog kick give it. I look forward to hearing the final version :-)

Thanks!
I've been feeling extra inspired lately.
I love that you said portamento. That's very geeky and extremely accurate.

Thanks! I've actually been playing piano since I was 5 (tho I'm very rusty right now). I have some experience with recorded music, too :-D

Do you still record these days? I'm under the impression you did the 619 Bearcast theme. Anything else?

[identity profile] jpinsd.livejournal.com 2010-08-23 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, I did do the intro– and outro– music for the 619Bearcast. I haven't had much of a chance (or inspiration) lately to write music. Maybe once I get a couple other things under control, I might go back to writing and recording stuff again.

Nice - what program did you use?

Hey you!
Fruity Loops. I think the one I'm currently using is called FL Studio 8.

I'm excited because I finally have a good computer/sound card setup. I'm really hoping/trying to do more recording. Gotta get that Microkorg!

That's an SK-1. From the 80's. Greatest keyboard ever! I do have one of those.

Great start!

I really have a soft spot for electronica so I'm looking forward to hearing where you go with this one, man! :o) [[bops in anticipation]]

Monumentally influential, and the man behind it - Daniel Miller - founded Mute Records. He brought us: Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb, Erasure, Renegade Soundwave, Diamanda Galas, DAF, Fad Gadget, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and more.

I got to shake his hand at Wembley Arena in 2006. He's kinda turned into a big ol' bear.

That icon is totally rad, too!

Did you ever see the TV special for the premiere?

Oooo. I have not. I'll have to check it out. It doesn't work on my iPad, but I bookmarked it.

Captain EO brings back tons of memories for me. I was surprised at how much of it I had memorized when we watched it again a few months ago.

Thanks for the link!
