oh. my.gawd. the first record I ever had ( that wasn't kids music like Free To Be You And Me, or Sesame Street songs) was Captain & Tennille. it was "Song of Joy", with the quirky single Muskrat Love.
I'm of mixed feelings on them. At least half of their material is so appallingly sappy and cloying and... wholesome... that I can't stand it. "Sing" is one of the most nauseating songs ever written, and a few seconds of the chorus with will have me vomiting gallons of liquid saccharin. But every know and then they'd pull off something so brilliant that I just can't out-and-out hate them. "They Long To Be Close To You" is one such example IMHO.

I love them so much. I want to wrap my arms around that music.
