Music Meme - Day 17

Day 17. A song that you hear often on the radio

I don't listen to terrestrial the radio at all. Not a peep.
And when I listen to satellite radio, I almost exclusively listen to The Frank Decaro Show and The Howard Stern Show.

The theme for the Howard Stern Show is a very rare collaboration between Rob Zombie and Howard Stern called The Great American Nightmare. It was recorded for the movie Private Parts.

Funny-ish story. Last March, I drove up (by myself) to L.A. to see a Frank Black Show at the Echoplex. It was an unbelievably entertaining show, but around 1am (At this point, Frank Black, Joey Santiago, David Lovering and FLEA were on stage!), I had to bail. I knew the drive home was going to be brutal.

At 3am, I was almost home, and I knew that the Howard Stern Show started then (6am Eastern), so I switched it on. I was completely delirious from being up late, excited about being home and giddy about hearing Stern in real-time. I remember SCREAMING this theme song as loud as I could. Especially the part towards the beginning that goes, "Yeaaah, Muthufucka!"

Everytime I hear that song I remember when Howard first played it on the air for Robin.

Howard would go

"This part is me......now that part is Rob......now that's me again.....now that's Rob......now that's me.....now that's Rob singing."
