So, can we talk about Five Guys?

Last week, two IRL friends of mine told me about a new (to San Diego) burger joint called Five Guys, then two guys from the Interwebs also brought it up. I decided I had to check it out. I love a good burger, that's for sure.

Yesterday we found ourselves a few blocks away from one and ready for lunch, so we went.

From the start, I could tell it was a hot mess. The line was almost out the door, and I saw a lot if people standing around without food.

Turns out, Five Guys is incredibly inefficient and poorly laid out. All they sell are burgers and fries, and our order took a half hour. Fail-urrr.

By the time we got our food, we were going batshit stir-crazy, so we took our food to go. Later, we found a table outside that was, at least, quiet.

Here's the thing. My burger was good. It was really good, but for $5 and that god-awful wait, I'm going to go with Not Worth It.

What I'm wondering, though, is did we just come at a bad time? If it would have been less crowded, maybe I would have loved it. I'm curious what you guys think.

Music Meme - Day 22

Day 22. A song that you listen to when you’re sad

This one is kind of a stretch, but I think it'll be fun. I don't usually think, "I'm sad", then put on a record, but I can think of a sad moment and a corresponding song.

Until I was eleven, I went to a tiny, private school. My entire grade was 15 people, and I didn't like any of them. On top of that, I was super shy and weird.

My family moved to Rancho Penasquitos (the worst place ever) the summer before 6th grade. Suddenly, now at a public school, I found myself surrounded by strangers who all seemed to know each other from years before. I became even more introverted and weird.

For Halloween, I made my own costume out of paint and a cardboard box. I was Matt Trakker from the cartoon M.A.S.K.

The second I arrived at school, I realized that I was completely out of my element. Everyone else was a vampire or a punk or something relatively cool. Most kids were too cool for a costume at all. Here I was with a homemade, cartoon costume. It was an epic failure. I was sad.

The M.A.S.K. Theme

Lesson learned: Sometimes, you gotta reel it in, just a little.
