The other day, I posted a picture of myself walking around downtown. When I saw it posted up on Flickr, I thought, "Wow, I've really put on some weight."

Over the past year, I've eaten for lunch and dinner A LOT. And, this summer, I took a lot of breaks from running and exercising.

I'm hoping that this is my big comeback. My plan is to pack small lunches more often and eat at home when I can. I'm also hoping to do more running and going to the gym. None of these things take a ton of effort; I just need to be in the right mindset.

I don't have any fantasies about being skinny and 100% fit, but it sure would be nice if my pants didn't fit so tightly.

A few months ago, my leg started hurting. Turns out it was some kind of shin splint, so I took some time off from running.

All healed up and plus-ten pounds later, I'm back to running regularly with running buddy [ profile] danlmarmot. Turns out I got really out of shape during my hiatus. I'm sore everywhere.

But it's awesome. I'm back!

I was running late to meet up with Dan for our morning run, so I just grabbed one of my brand new running shirts. It's a bit tight. I feel like a stuffed sausage.

                    Separated at Birth?

I really need to focus on dieting. At least we're nailing the exercise part. Dan and I went on some solid runs this week. Go team, go!

That was weird. I went for a run this morning, and about a mile and a half in to my run, I became totally nauseous. Odd... Maybe I'm pregnant!

Had to do the walk of shame home...

My running buddy, [ profile] danlmarmot, took 2 days off from running. He picked the perfect 2 days. It's really hot and humid. Ech.

Humid 1 Humid 2 Humid 3

I could never survive in a place like Florida. Humidity jacks me up.

I'm working from home today because I need to sign for a very special delivery (Fake iPad!!!). Mark has the day off. So here we are, hanging out at home, on a weekday.

So far, I have observed that he watches old movies and plays Facebook games all day.

So far, Mark has observed that I play with my iPhone, listen to Howard Stern and sit around in my boxers all day.

I had to really think about this one. I kind of listen to everything, so people generally aren't shocked if I say I like Public Enemy, Garth Brooks, Harry Nilsson, Michael Jackson, et al. But, I thought of a real doozy.

The American National Anthem. Seriously. It's a beautiful poem. I never thought much of it until I ran my first 10k. Before the race began, a little girl sang it a cappella, and it made me a little misty-eyed.

I like my country, but I'm not weird about it. Believe me, I'm no "America, love or leave it" or "these colors don't run" (blech) type of guy. I just think we have a cool national anthem.

Note: The above link is kind of a joke, but I meant what I said about the song.

On my way to work today, I was just thinking about all the cool stuff I have going on right now. It's a good time to be me.

For starters, Prop 8. That's neat. Of course, every couple I know that wants to get married already is. But, it's a giant leap for California, and maybe the whole nation.

I finally became a Registered iPhone developer last night and installed my first home-built app.

I'm also really stoked about my new IRL and quasi-IRL friends Dan, Ed and Dave. Hi guys.
